(1) CID Probes Hotel Manager
The Criminal Investigation Department of the Sierra Leone Police are currently investigating Mrs. Isatu Posseh Bangura for issuing an uncleared cheque for the sum of Eighteen Million, six hundred and seventy thousand Leones (Le 18,670,000) to Emad Fawaz, owner and manager of Sea Sweet Patisseri and Restaurant of 98 Wilkinson Road.
Mrs. Isatu Posseh Bangura is the owner and manager of Posseh Hotel and Catering Service at Babadorie, Lumley. Senior CID sources have confirmed to the Global Times that they had obtained statement from Emad Fawaz in connection to the alleged fraud.
According to sources, Emad Fawaz was contacted on 20th December 2011 by Mrs. Isatu Posseh Bangura requesting him to cater for the wedding of her only daughter which took place on 5th January 2012 at Bintumani Hotel, Aberdeen in Freetown. Mrs. Bangura ordered Mr. Fawaz to provide five different courses of meal with one thousand pieces each.
CID sources confirmed that Mrs. Bangura agreed to pay for the food the sum of Le 18,670,000 on the 30th December 2011. Report further stated that, Mrs. Bangura promised to pay the money at the end of December. When contacted by Mr. Fawaz for the delay in payment, Mrs. Posseh promised again that she would finally pay up on the Wednesday 3 January 2012. She later issued a GTB cheque dated January 9, 2012 which was referred to drawer.
Mrs. Bangura has agreed to pay the money. CID personnel say the matter is not yet over.
